Scheduling process and protocol

Please read this entire post before making any submissions to any JotForms.  There is a lot of very important information here.

Counselors will be focused on processing all entries in the JotForm and only entries in the JotForm and not focused on emails and phone calls during this time (Monday, July 29 – Friday, August 2).

Reminders for Schedule Changes

  1. We do not change schedules for period or teacher preference.
  2. We do not change schedules for lunch placement preference.
  3. If you need your virtual period first or last for GHSA sport, extracurricular activities, etc. please use the Virtual Period JotForm to submit documentation
    1. Virtual periods are only changed if the student has already made the team or previously made the team.  Coach email or letter is required in the JotForm.

  4. We do not change schedules to level up; this was done in the spring through the waiver process
    1. Leveling down MAY be possible if room available in the classes; we do not overload classes for schedule changes in August.

Special Placeholders:

Sci Dept Head = Scientific Research Honors with a Science Heavy Focus

Fine Arts Dept Head = Scientific Research with Fine Arts Focus

GT Block – Your day 1 course will be showing (Fndt of Engineering, Intro to Software Technology, or Intro to Healthcare).  You will see three teachers listed.  This is the GT Block.  You will take all three courses even though one is listed.

The first teacher listed is your Day 1 teacher and your main point of contact.  Visit all three teachers during Information Day.

Scientific Research I

  • On Level has course code: 40.0921001 and 40.0921002
  • Honors has course code: 40.0921041 and 40.0921042

If you have “See Counselor” on your schedule, this is due to missing an elective or not uploading you dual enrollment schedule as requested in July. 

  • If you are no longer participating in dual enrollment, please use this form to let us know: https://form.jotform.com/242003993517052
  • The Dual Enrollment JotForm closes Friday, August 2nd at 4:00pm.  If your schedule is not completed, you will need to take classes on campus at that time.

If you are taking the Dual Enrollment Human Anatomy course with Dr. Dawes, ensure you have signed up for the course through Gwinnett Tech, both lecture and lab.  Check your email for more details.

Virtual Periods and Course Sign Up:

For your virtual periods, please ensure you have signed up in VECTOR on Infinite Campus or on the GAVS platform for both your fall and spring course. 

  • Rising 9th Graders: please select A for fall semester and B for spring semester
    • Example: Spanish I A for fall and Spanish I B for spring
  • Rising 9th Graders: if you are having trouble with this, we will assist you on the first day of school – please do not email about this

Dropped Courses:

Research with a US History focus did not make for this year.  We are planning to offer it next year.

Civil Rights with Multi Cult Lit did not make for this year.  We will gauge interest for next year.

Allied Health is a course embedded in other Healthcare courses.  See Dr. Dawes with questions.

AP Music Theory can be taken through GAVS; our schedule was too full to offer.

Reasons for a Schedule Change:

  1. Took course over the summer and still in schedule
  2. Dual Enrollment classes incorrect or not listed

  3. You are no longer doing dual enrollment
  4. Request a level down (there is no guarantee)
  5. “See Counselor” on schedule – need to provide elective or dual enrollment information
