10th grade can often feel like the trickiest year at IA – you’re no longer a freshman, but college and graduation still feels so far away. Beacon writer Nina Toole interviewed one of our newest counselors, Ms. Jackson, to gather some advice on how to make 10th grade a successful year.
When asked about the most important things to focus on during 10th grade, Ms. Jackson emphasized “It’s most important to focus on your grades and your GPA. Make sure that you keep the GPA at a great level, stay focused in your classes, and build great relationships with your teachers. They’re the ones that you’ll rely on for recommendations when you’re applying to those dream schools.” She also emphasized the importance of “getting to know your teachers, joining clubs, and becoming an active part of IA.” Establishing these habits now is sure to pay off when you’re building your college resume and are great ways to make your 10th grade year productive.
