The IA School Governance Council (SGC) is excited to be kicking off the new school year. The SGC is a group of parents, teachers, community members and student observers who are elected or appointed to help set the strategic direction for the school, approve the school budget, allocate discretionary resources, and manage requests for flexibility given IA’s charter school status.
This fall, the SGC is providing guidance to Principal Kent’s IA Strategic Plan as part of a broader Fulton County process. All SGC meetings are open to IA community members, with agendas, minutes and SGC member contact information posted HERE.
The SGC established its leaders for the 2024-25 year in its first meeting, August 15. Jeanietta Howard, IA Parent, is serving as IA Chair, Assistant Principal Haaris Quraishy as Vice Chair, and teacher Bob Kuhn is Parliamentarian. Parents Jit Saha and Rob Alford will lead the Budget and Outreach Committees, respectively.
SGC members welcome feedback from the IA Community and are all committed to making IA an even better place for students to thrive. The next SGC meeting is scheduled for September 12 at 7:45am in Mission Control or virtually. Details are at the website link above.
