IA Runs the Mayor’s Corporate Challenge

by Samanyu Bhupalam

An Alpharetta tradition dating back to the late 20th century, the Mayor’s Corporate Challenge is a 5 kilometer (3.16 mi.) long race looping around Alpharetta every mid-September. The race, hosted by businesses in the Alpharetta area, is a charity run, having raised $700,000 over the last ten years for hundreds of charities in north Fulton and internationally. For its part, IA sent in a team comprised of 34 former and current students and teachers who registered, but many simply came and joined in on the running and festivities. IA’s running culture runs deep, helping us win first place overall against every other team participating! In addition, to our overall team victory, there was a lot revelling in personal glory. Among them included Abigail Misganaw, placing first as overall women’s championships, Math teacher Mr. Bart finished 8th overall, and senior Landon Pete finished 15th overall! Many other runners experienced personal bests, showing incredible growth in both speed and endurance. Overall, a great night for IA!
