Deepavali, or Diwali, is known as the festival of lights that is prevalently celebrated in the Hindu religion. This festival primarily takes place during late October or early November (depending on the lunar cycle) and took place this year on October 31st. While this festival has many origin stories and rationales across India, this festival is focused around the triumph of good over evil and prosperity for all.
To bring the spirit of Deepavali to Innovation Academy, a few local Indian families held a luncheon for the staff and faculty, with array of delicious food and elegant decorations. The spread of food included crunchy samosas, creamy paneer butter masala, and pillowy garlic naan. Furthermore, with lights on every table, the staff was truly able to partake in the spirit of Deepavali and gain a deeper appreciation for the festival. Our community is so excited to conduct future events like this throughout the year to help bring appreciation to the cultures of the IA student body!
