I’m excited to share some details about our upcoming Phoenix Project Week (November 18-22). This school wide project will be an extraordinary opportunity for our students to dive into real-world challenges through a topic that matters to everyone—food scarcity. This project week is built on our commitment to project-based learning, giving students the chance to explore complex issues from multiple perspectives and collaborate to develop impactful solutions.

What to Expect: Throughout the week, students will engage in groups to think critically about food insecurity and its effects both locally and globally. They’ll get to hear from experts from government, non-profits, and industry about the problems, initiatives, and opportunities to address this complex issue. For many students, this is an opportunity not only to apply what they’ve learned in class but to see how their skills and ideas can have a positive impact on their community.

Your Support As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we recognize this is a busy time for families. However, I’m hopeful you will help us promote this week as an important time of their educational journey. The project’s success will be in large part driven by the willingness for students to participate and engage in the experience. I encourage you to talk to your students and help them understand the impact this problem has on our communities and how they can develop a deeper understanding by participating fully. 

On Friday, students will have a chance to engage with business partners for a half day (dismissal on Friday will be at 12:30). I am very excited to see what incredible ideas our students develop.  Attendance information for the week as well as a full schedule is posted separately in the newsletter.
