Tech Alpharetta Women’s Forum visits Hewlett Packard Enterprise

By: Kaelyn Fu

The Tech Alpharetta Women’s Forum is a mentorship program with the mission of bridging the gender gap in STEAM careers. The program was first created for students at Innovation Academy and is expanding each year, starting from just 5 pairs of mentors and mentees to the current 38 female mentors with careers and experiences in STEAM paired with 38 female students at IA. The mentors give all sorts of guidance, from personal experiences to career-based planning.

Recently, the women’s forum organized a visit to Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), giving the mentees an exciting opportunity to have a glimpse into the growing technology career field in-person. In addition to receiving a tour of their computer server room, mentees were able to partake in hands-on experiences with various functional computer components. Finally, mentees listened to a panel of HPE employees speak about their career paths, their experiences working for HPE, and the commendable technological improvements throughout the years. Many mentees have enjoyed the interactive and insightful experience and are looking forward to visiting more STEAM-related companies in the future!
