Phoenix Project Week Feeds the Future

The approaching holiday season usually promises good company and good food, but for many members of the metro and Atlanta area, this season is marked by something different – hunger. In order to bring awareness and potential solutions to this issue, IA debuted its first annual Phoenix Project Week. This school-wide initiative allowed students to explore issues surrounding food scarcity and hunger. Over the course of the week, students worked with business partners, local experts, and each other to create a solution that could positively impact this topic. On Friday, students showed off their developments by hosting a mini-Showcase and putting their prototypes and ideas to the test. IA students are incredibly innovative – projects ranged from firing clay pots for planting fresh vegetables, creating a guide for affordable and balanced fast-food meals available in food deserts, all the way to planning and testing healthy meals that can be cooked with nothing more than a microwave. Thank you to all business partners who lent their time and expertise to assisting our students – this week was one to remember!
