The 2025 IA Cultivate was hosted recently on February 28th, last Friday.
Here’s what you should know about it:
What is Cultivate?
IA Cultivate is a day where students can meet with career professionals and learn about different aspects of careers that interest them.
Students sign up on the event.fscia site, where they are given the options to select from four different events and a resume building workshop. The workshops are divided between grades, but the events are open to all grade levels.
5 Keys to Success in Business –
Brian Will shared his five main lessons from his over 35 years of experience in business, stemming from what you want out of the business, what makes you special, your role, your need for expertise, and having a good hold of the numbers of your business. These five lessons, gaining them from several failed and succeeding business ventures, can explain why half of the millions of new startups close by their 5th year in operation.
Oral Communication –
This event went over ways to improve the way you can use your voice to become clearer to others in five steps: inflection, timber, rate, prosody, and intensity. Alongside that, the speaker went over how hand movements can be used to enhance the speaking while a strategy could be used to give consistent, clear answers to questions.
Improv With Dad’s Garage –
This event focused on breaking a person’s shell using improvisation activities, which required students to think creatively on the spot. These activities included one called “Yes, and” a news segment that would require students to add onto what others would say. There were also word games which consisted of thinking of one or three words about a word someone else would end on, the word you end on being the source for the next student.
