We have big news in the world of Math Team tournaments. Varun Gadi (10) has qualified for the USA Junior Math Olympiad. This is no easy feat. To qualify for the USAJMO, students must first perform exceptionally well on the AMC 10 or 12 to get invited to the AIME. Then, students must perform exceptionally well on the AIME to get invited to the USAJMO. This is considered one of the hardest math tournaments to qualify for or participate in. Only around 400 contestants in the country qualify per year.
Varun will spend 9 hours over two days writing proofs for 6 problems. Fun! You may think that this would be the end of the journey but wait! The top participants at the USAJMO are then invited to an even higher level of competition, culminating in in the International Mathematical Olympiad. If all goes well, we will have an Innovation Academy student representing the US in a world-wide competition. Please congratulate Varun on this truly outstanding achievement if you see him.
