Starting August 1, we are launching our Second Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites Art Contest, which will showcase the talent and creativity of our young artists. This contest is held in partnership with State Representative Marvin Lim and State Senator Sonya Halpern. The winners will have the honor of having their artwork featured on table-top displays at the State Capitol during the 2026 legislative session.
Here are the key details about the contest:
- Eligibility: The contest is open to all Georgia high school students in 9th – 12th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. Only one entry is allowed per person.
- Theme: Students are asked to create a drawing or painting that showcases a landscape, historic site, or natural feature that captures the beauty and value of Georgia’s State Parks.
- Medium: Accepted mediums include painting and drawing. Artwork must be two-dimensional.
- Submission Deadline: The deadline for submissions is October 31. Students must submit a high-resolution digital image of their artwork to https://gastateparks.org/artcontest. The link will go live on August 1.
- Judging: A panel of judges from Representative Lim and Senator Halpern’s team will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, technical skill, and adherence to the theme. Winners will be announced after the October 31 deadline. A Top 3 and 12 Honorable Mentions will be selected.
- Prizes: The chosen winners will have their artwork prominently featured on table-top displays at the State Capitol during the legislative season.
