Principal’s Message

Happy Friday IA families,

I’m looking forward to our first day back on Monday. Please take some time to read through the posts on this Beacon. There are important changes to several policies and procedures, so we want to make sure you are aware and have time to talk to your students about them. Specifically, please make sure you are aware of the new personal device policy. I firmly believe that creating space for students to be engaged with their education without the distractions of social media and the instant, hyper-connected communication available from their phones. Still, this change is going to be difficult for students, and it will come with some inefficiencies introduced into their workflow, both in the classroom and without. We’ll continue to work together to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Please take some time to review the rules with your student, so they are not surprised and understand the reasoning for the new state law.

For our new families, welcome to IA! I hope you have had a chance to visit the school at Open House or during Bridge. We look forward to welcoming your students in the building. With that in mind, we are sending all students weekly communications through their Fulton Schools email accounts about activities we have scheduled each day to celebrate our community and meet new people. Please remind them to check their emails regularly, as this is the main channel for personal communications.
