The first month of school is always a struggle; no matter how ready you are, settling back into a rhythm is always a challenge. The major difficulties arise when trying to set that rhythm as classes get into full swing after just a few days. Keeping your academics afloat amidst the first month frenzy is vital, as Neel Irkal [11] knows all too well. He reminded us that “If you don’t keep your workload balanced, you’re going to be swamped with so much work that you’re not going to be able to get anything done.”
Of course, you should find ways to organize your day, but agendas and sticky notes don’t work for everyone, so what’s the most ideal way to manage your time? Neel suggests timeboxing, saying “Timeboxing is boxing your time into chunks throughout the day and having a goal for each box of time.” Not only does timeboxing help you organize your work, but it can even help visually break apart your workload and keep you from being overwhelmed. Nevertheless, time management is a must to keep on track and on time, so find the system that works for you, and the year to come will work for you too!
