To the freshmen of IA,
I am here to tell you some things that probably won’t stick with you for your four-year high school duration. But I think that, as seniors who were once freshmen in your shoes, these are some important things to keep in mind and other seniors will agree.
For example, Justin Britwum stated, “Take GT Block seriously. The class itself is
easy but if you fall behind in it, it can really tank your GPA.” As every sophomore, junior, and senior will say GT Block is hard, don’t kid yourself.
Senior Sreepadha Daram also says “IA can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do everything. Focus on what excites you, explore new opportunities, and remember it’s okay to say no! Prioritize your well-being and make space for what truly matters to you.”
I wouldn’t be surprised whatsoever if you told me, only being two weeks into school, that you are already
very stressed and overwhelmed academically and even socially. Starting out in high school,
you are thrown into the fire and expected to climb out of it despite not knowing how to right
away. That’s the experience of high school – learning how to live through struggles, adapt
and overcome them. Not every moment of the day will be hard and it’s important to
appreciate the times of peace while you have them because they won’t be around for long.
So go, live life, have fun, reach your goals, thug it out, don’t stress, and remember to enjoy high school. Before you know it, you’ll right here writing the next senior perspective article for the next batch of freshman.
