The First Steps into IA

I’m sure all of us IA students remember those first, exhilarating steps into the school. Walking in can feel like stepping into a whole new world with the hallways packed, schedules scrambled, and everyone trying to figure out where to go. Last week, the freshmen went through exactly that. We all start off a little nervous, but end the week with more excitement than fear, thanks in large part to support from our peers. Suhani Lavania [9] admitted, “It was difficult to find my classes at first, but other students were helpful.” Along with learning the layout, the new class has been adjusting to the little quirks that make IA different. “I liked finding out how much freedom we have,” Suhani said. One of her favorite discoveries was virtual period. “Right now I’m in virtual ‘jail,’ but after the first 4 and a half weeks I’ll get to be anywhere, and I’m excited for that.” When asked about their favorite moment so far, Emma Ares [9] didn’t have to think long. “My first literature class,” they said. “I really like that class.” It’s the little things that make you find peace in a hectic week. With new routines settling in and more discoveries still ahead, the freshmen are beginning to carve out their own place at IA. With so much to look forward to, the first week was only the beginning of what’s to come.
