Class of 2027, we have finally entered our junior year, arguably one of the most challenging years yet! Overwhelming is an understatement to the growing pressure of graduation and college admissions creeping up as the days go by. A check list may be overrated but it’s one of the easiest ways to stay on track this year.
11th graders should focus on narrowing down colleges, picking out what they want to major in, and listing
down colleges that align with what they need. It is also time to register and take your SATs or ACT’s. Junior year is the time to utilize opportunities by getting involved in clubs, competitions, and extracurricular activities. Ms. Moran (Head Counselor) suggests, “Taking those standardized test and looking into what colleges you want to go to should be something to focus on.”
Also, prioritize having safety nets for the decisions you make. Not all students may want to go to college, but having a plan is something to focus on. 11th graders should focus on how to get where they want to be and how to get there, whether that be starting your own business, taking a gap year, or going to trade school. Having a plan and narrowing down what you want to do is the best way for 11th graders
to stay successful.
