Recognizing and Responding to the Signs of Suicide Student Presentation
Understanding the warning signs of suicide is crucial—but it’s even more important to know how to respond when we notice those signs in ourselves or others. Taking the right steps can truly save lives.
As a district, we are committed to equipping students with the tools they need to take action. Through our ACT initiative, we teach students to:
- Acknowledge when someone is struggling,
- Show that they Care, and
- Tell a trusted adult or professional.
Together, we can foster a culture of awareness, compassion, and support—ensuring that no one faces their challenges alone.
On September 18th, the Signs of Suicide will be presented to all 9th graders during a portion of their GT block classes.
Our 10th – 12th graders will receive a refresher from Summit Counseling, our onsite mental health partners, in the auditorium. Students in 4th period lunch will report to the auditorium for the last 20 minutes of their lunch period and students in 5th period will report to the auditorium for the first 20 minutes of their lunch periods.
Parents can opt their student out of the presentation by completing the opt out form and having the student return it to the counseling office in room 221.
