IA students who are fluent in a language other than English may be eligible to earn a Global Seal of Biliteracy (GSB).
The Global Seal of Biliteracy is more than just a certificate—it’s a passport to opportunity. This prestigious award recognizes students who can communicate fluently in two or more languages, a skill that’s increasingly valuable in today’s global economy. By earning the seal, students stand out to colleges, scholarship committees, and employers who value bilingualism, cultural competence, and global readiness. It’s a powerful way to showcase your dedication, expand your career options, and connect with the world.
The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition and does not give the student foreign language credits that are required for graduation. They will still need to take 2 foreign language courses through FVS or GAVS. The testing will take place at Innovation Academy in room 121 on select Saturdays. The languages available to test are listed in the interest form.
