Student life at IA offers a variety of extracurricular activities, academic pursuits, interactions both in and outside of the classroom, opportunities for personal growth, and the development of important skills in order to ensure future success and prepare students for the road ahead of them. IA provides comfort and security to help students assimilate into their environment and improve their overall educational journey. Jayden Hall (12), a senior has attended IA all four years. He has been exposed to, witnessed, and experienced all of IA’s worries and wonders over the years. Jayden noticed clubs are better compared to other schools, like how IA is trying to become a little more traditional like other schools, GT block has taken steps to make the classes more organized and coercive people into participating and engaging, like how GT block exposes the 3 pathways: Healthcare, Engineering, and IT to freshman. On the other hand, Jayden has a desire to change several school aspects, for example, he wishes there was the chance given to play sports at school making it convenient for people who play at their home school, and it would be fun to go to home games. A result of this would be a stronger culture of school spirit expressed through home games that alike, other schools share. Jayden states, “IA has cool electives, but I wish we had more time to engage in them.” As Jayden reflects on his days at IA as a Freshman, he thinks freshman should have more flexibility set in stone, GT block should operate on block schedule because two-hour classes take a toll as well as the option to dive in deeper into specific pathway during GT block. Jayden believes that both art and language should be in person but suggests that there should be an option for language on virtual and one in person. Jayden states, “The purpose of language is to speak and connect with people in person but the only time you get to really practice speaking is DBA’s.” All in all, Jayden is willing to make sacrifices to make things work to curate and establish a healthier, happier, and safer environment.
