Homecoming 2025: Creating a Better Night to Remember

by: Daniel Manetin

If you’ve been caught up in hours of homework and seemingly endless studying, don’t worry – Homecoming 2025 is approaching fast! With theme voting already in the past and student leaders prepping to decorate for a “Night Under the Stars”, many are preparing for another night of festivities to remember. Student Ryan Muro [11] stated, “I’ve gone freshman and sophomore year, and my favorite part is just being able to go out with my friends,” one of the common ways to attend the night of music and activities. However, this year, the IA Student Council is doing it differently; they want to hear students’ thoughts and wants for the event, so they can plan a Homecoming night that’s even better than the last.

“We plan to use Microsoft forms to gather feedback,” stated Junior Council President Leah Simmons, “and student council members are always willing to listen to feedback in-person.” While the Junior Council is planning this year’s Homecoming dance, all council members are helping out to get planning and setup in motion, and ideas from anyone are welcome for consideration. The addition of more involved and preferred activities, events, and even decorations will help shape the Homecoming dance into an event that’s more fun and engaging for students. After all, “the social aspects of students gathering with friends for the dance is what’s best for student engagement,” Leah mentioned. “It’s important that Homecoming fosters that connection.”
