The exciting homecoming dance is quickly approaching, and here at IA we have a week jam-packed with fun spirit events to get us pumped for the dance. On top of that, this year’s homecoming is set to be better than ever, bringing fresh vibes to get us set for this year’s theme: A Night Under the Stars. Class councils and students are already hard at work to bring this vision to light, starting Friday. Ms. Turner remarks, “The grades are competing against each other, so make sure to be loud about which hallway is your favorite! Next Saturday, the council will come to the school early to set up the dance décor, and they cannot wait to blow you away and transform the hanger into an enchanted evening in the stars.”
Speaking of stars, the upcoming spirit week gives you a chance to show up and show out in your absolute best. Dressing up gives you the perfect opportunity to participate, especially if you have not before. The themes are as follows:
Monday: Student-Teacher Swap
Tuesday: Dress Like Your Favorite Star
Wednesday: Grade Color Wars!
Thursday: Halloween Costumes!
Students can also get special prizes for standing out. According to Ms.Turner, “Students who dress up will put their name in a raffle to win a sweet prize! They can enter the raffle during their lunch period!” IA students will have plenty of opportunities to shine like stars even before the dance begins.
One student shared their excitement for the upcoming pep-rally on Wednesday October 29th, which will host games and competitions between grades. Students can sign up to participate through the SignUpGenius in Canvas, and those who are watching are encouraged to cheer on their classmates. Anaiya Patel [10th], shared, “I think the pep rally is such a good way to boost school spirit and it gives everyone a chance to represent the school.”
After a week full of hallway competitions, spirit days, and pep-rally excitement, the celebration will all come together at the dance on Saturday, 11/01. The hangar will be transformed into a glittering night sky filled with lights, music, and memories waiting to happen. If you enjoyed last year’s dance, Ms. Turner shared that, “a special IA celebrity will be reprising his role as DJ for the second homecoming in a row,” adding more excitement to what will already be an unforgettable night under the stars!
