Diwali, often called the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by millions of people across the world, especially those of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain faiths. Although its meaning varies across regions, its central message remains the same: the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. In North India, Diwali celebrates the return of Lord Rama, a beloved Hindu deity, after rescuing his wife and defeating the demon king Ravana, which represents the victory of virtue and devotion. In South India, it honors Lord Krishna, another revered Hindu figure, who defeated the demon Narakasura to free innocent people, symbolizing the power of truth and courage.
For many students, Diwali is a time to connect with community and cultural traditions. “To me, Diwali is a time to celebrate joy and happiness,” said IA student Sreya Donthineni [11]. “Lighting diyas and being with my family reminds me of where I come from and what truly matters.”
To honor the holiday ,a group of IA Indian parents hosted a special staff luncheon on November 6, featuring delicious Indian food and sweets. The event celebrated not only the festival but also the diversity that makes the Innovation Academy community so vibrant. The glowing lamps and joyful gatherings all remind us that even in dark times, light and kindness can always shine through.
