This year’s “Under the Stars” Homecoming was one of Innovation Academy’s most enjoyable yet. Students reportedly enjoyed the improved food options, detailed decorations, and relaxed atmosphere that made the event feel smoother and more organized than in past years.
“It just felt more enjoyable this year,” said Abigail Misganaw [11]. “Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and the food was definitely better than last year.”
Student Council representative Eniola Famakinwa [11] explained that planning for this year’s Homecoming began long before the school year even started. “The entire process started last May when our junior council was elected,” she said. “We spent the summer figuring out how we wanted to organize Homecoming, finalize a theme, and make sure students had a say in the process. When ‘Under the Stars’ was chosen, we were really happy with the result.” This early planning paid off. For example, decorations across all grade-level hallways stayed intact and on theme for most of the week, adding to the overall excitement.
Homecoming Spirit Week helped build that excitement early on as well. Students participated in themed dress-up days, including “Celebrity Day” and a “Teacher-Student Swap,” while candy giveaways and karaoke during lunch kept energy high. Since Homecoming followed right after Halloween, students even came dressed in costumes, ranging from Adam Sandler outfits to dinosaur suits.

Overall, this year’s Homecoming week was a success, and we look forward to more successful Homecomings.
