The KSU Fintech Hackathon was a two-day college-level hackathon where over 50 college (and some high school) teams compete to develop an idea with a prototype. Our prompt was how we could improve cross-border stablecoin transactions. Our team, Ctrl + Alt + DeFi, developed a product called Liquid – which combines percolation theory (physics concept) with machine learning, and predicts payment corridor reliability for stablecoin transactions. We had a lot of fun developing this idea, especially due to the connection of the financial concept of stablecoins with the fields of AI and physics.
Our team ended up placing first in the entire hackathon and receiving $4,000 in prize money, with the rest of the winners (2nd, 3rd, and 4th) all being teams from other colleges. It was overall a great experience as we met a lot of other college students and companies and learned a lot of interesting ideas.
