By: Annalisa Fletcher
The Makerspace at our school has become a hub where students can let their creativity run free and utilize the resources our school provides. It’s student led, and the students who dedicate their time to maintaining it work hard to keep it running. Here students can transform popsicle sticks and cardboard scraps into impressive projects. One thing about the makerspace is that it does well at highlighting the variety of skills and interests that IA students have. Inside, students are working on projects ranging from 3D printing to elaborate fashion pieces. This week, we’re showcasing two unique projects.

Sarvesh Sathish[9] is currently constructing a miniature car garage, a project he is working on entirely on his own. “It’s like a mini car garage. I’m a car collector, so I wanted to make a place to hold one of my cars,” Sathish says. His design includes a roof and designated spaces for the cars to be displayed.

Another creative project comes from Kearthi Ravikumar[9] who has been grinding out beautiful satin flower bouquets. When asked about her inspiration, she shared, “Pinterest, I had a bunch of satin sitting at home, so I thought I’d make something with it.” Ravikumar often makes flowers like these and has become so skilled at it. “I usually make flowers,” she said. “I give them to my friends when I make them.” The power to take something simple and transform it into something meaningful is a great skill to have.
