Happy Friday Innovation Academy families,

As most of you know, Fulton County Schools is facing financial headwinds from decreasing enrollments, tax code changes, and increasing benefit costs. While the district is committed to ensuring IA has the resources it needs, we are going to face a $75,000 budget shortfall next year. 

A major effort to supplement these funds comes through a program called the Georgia Peach State Tax Credit

This program provides a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for contributions designated for FCS Innovation Academy. This means if you contribute to IA this year, you will receive a tax credit for the same amount. It is effectively redirecting a portion of your Georgia tax liability to Innovation Academy. 

As we continue to grow as a school, our commitment remains the same: to provide students with compelling, hands‑on learning experiences that prepare them for the future. Our pathways and signature programming—rooted in problem‑solving, design, engineering, and real‑world application—are thriving because of the continued partnership of our community. While our core operations remain strong, supplemental funding helps us elevate our work—creating opportunities for students that go beyond what traditional funding alone can support.

Every contribution—large or small—helps ensure that IA continues to lead in STEM education and prepare students to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.

Donor levels are:

  • Single filers can commit up to $2,500. 
  • Joint filers can commit up to $5,000. 
  • LLCs can commit up to $25,000.
  • C and S corporations, can donate up to 75% of their annual Georgia tax liability.

More information is available on the program website.   Credits are taken when a contributor files their taxes in the year following the contribution.

The process is fairly simple but does have multiple steps.

  1. Register for your account: https://www.gfpe.org/tax_credit/ 

    During registration, you will declare the amount of your intended contribution.

    Note: Once approved, you have a 60‑day window to submit your contribution. Funds may be distributed throughout the year, but separate applications are required for each distribution.
  2. Wait for Approval:

    You will receive confirmation at the email address you used to register—typically within ten days.
  1. Submit your donation:

    Payments can be made by check, electronic transfer, or online (3% service fee).
