Last Wednesday, Innovation Academy HOSA students attended one of the most anticipated events of the year for future health professionals across the state, the Georgia HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC).

Our students spent months preparing for competitions, leadership activities, and workshops to participate in SLC. All their hard work culminated in this high‑energy, three‑day conference in Atlanta, Georgia. With thousands of members, advisors, and guests from schools across the state, SLC offers education, celebration, and opportunities for everyone involved.
Devipriya Kommineni,(11) “ It was a bittersweet experience, I am so happy about all the memories I made but sad that it ended quickly as we only had 3 days.”
Thursday marked the first official day of SLC.
The competitive atmosphere officially began as students showcased their best work in the first round of events. The day was also filled with sessions where students could collaborate and network with other organizations and peers. The evening concluded with the Opening Session, welcoming attendees to a fun, inspiring, and educational conference.
Friday was packed with even more competitive events, including event testing, skills testing, and presentations. IA students gave it their all as they competed, with many advancing to the next round. The day also offered a variety of educational workshops. During the recognition ceremony, IA student Anay Bahukhandi was selected to represent Region 4 for Georgia HOSA.

Saturday was the most exciting day.
Innovation Academy students had the opportunity to be recognized for all their hard work at the awards ceremony. Students celebrated not only their own achievements but also the successes of their friends. The ceremony was filled with music Congratulations to all our IA winners! We had 39 students place in the top 10. Let’s go IA!
Varshini Ganesh (12) “I’ve had nothing but good experiences at SLC. The best part about HOSA is that you come together with people you never thought you’d talk to at school maybe you don’t have classes with them, or you just never interacted before. But during HOSA, you spend so much time together that you form really meaningful connections. I’ve actually found some of my best friends through it. Since it was senior year, it felt like everyone just put their differences aside and came together as one group, which made this SLC my favorite.”
Overall, across these three exciting days, the Georgia HOSA State Leadership Conference brought together competition, education, leadership, and celebration.
