Innovation Academy Robotics Team State Qualifier!

By: Tommy Steimer

The Innovation Academy robotics team brought 52 students to Albany, New York to compete in their second qualifier for the season. Placing in this 2 day competition would mean moving on to State but with 28 competing teams and a freshly broken intake system on teams robot this would be no easy accomplishment. Innovation Academy student Uday stated, “At every competition there’s something called the pit where we are able to repair our robot. Luckily, our coaches requested us to make extra intakes which saved us.” This year the competing robotics teams were tasked with picking up, and shooting 6 inch foam balls called “fuel” scattered across the field. Innovation Academy student JJ stated, “We were on an alliance with John’s Creek, their team 5109, Gladiator Robotics. During our off period where we couldn’t score we would defend for John’s Creek against other teams. While John’s Creek was on their off period they would defend for us”. While the Innovation Academy robotics team may not have moved on to State, they’ve learned valuable lessons and built memories and friendships to last them years!
