AP Exams are standardized exams designed to measure how well you’ve mastered the content and skills of a specific AP course. Most AP courses have an end-of-year exam, but a few courses have different ways to assess what you’ve learned—for example, AP Art and Design students submit a portfolio of work for scoring.

Who takes the test?

Every high school student who participates in an AP class must complete its respective AP exam.

What is a good score?

AP Exams are scored on a scale of 1−5. The lowest score is 1, and the highest is 5. In most cases, a 3 is considered a solid score, with it being the average amongst students. Anything higher than a 3 is considered above average.
