Car crashes, childbirth, cancer, surgeries, and any serious injuries deal with blood. Blood that has to be transfused somehow, which needs a constant supply of blood. These events are so common that every 2 seconds, someone needs blood in the US. To help supply that need, the Red Cross organizes blood drives for places around the country, and thanks to the efforts of Ms. Zahirsky, she also has included IA for the past two years. Eligible students, parents, and community members come in and donate 450 mL of blood. This blood is then screened and saves the lives of up to 3 people.
Additionally, people can learn more about their blood, like their blood type. New this year is A1C testing, which provides a free blood sugar report for the last three months.

Donors interested on the March 14th from 10 am – 2 pm date should:
● Ensure a good night’s rest
● Be properly hydrated and eat iron-rich foods before the donation
