Phoenix Project-Phase 1

We’re excited to kick off our 2nd annual Phoenix Project—a school-wide initiative designed to empower students as global citizens while exploring real-world challenges related to natural disaster preparedness and response.

On Friday August 15th, students will participate in a full day of interactive seminars hosted by professionals from organizations such as the Georgia National Guard, Salvation Army, Southern Company, UPS, AT&T, Grady Medical, and many more. These sessions will help students understand how communities prepare for and respond to natural disasters—and how they, too, can make a difference.

Throughout the day, students will reflect on what they’ve learned and begin selecting a topic or problem they’ll explore in small groups over the course of the semester. Their projects will focus on designing innovative, locally grounded solutions to global challenges, aligned with this year’s theme: “Think Globally, Act Locally.”

Please note: This is a full instructional day, and attendance is expected just as it would be on any regular school day. The experiences and insights gained on Friday will directly shape students’ semester-long projects. Juniors and Seniors who usually leave campus for WBL, internships, work, college classes, are encouraged to stay if they can, but will have to follow proper check out procedures if they leave.
