This Monday during both lunch periods, IA’s HOSA chapter partnered with Active Minds to host a Stress Relief Station—one of the events in our ongoing “12 Days of Civic Projects” initiative. With midterms around the corner, students were eager for a break, and the table quickly filled with people coloring, making bracelets, and taking a moment to reset (Image 1).

“We had a lot of students visit the table and they all enjoyed the opportunity to take a break from the stress of school, so we definitely accomplished our goal!”
HOSA Secretary Ashitha Puvvada (12).

The event was organized by HOSA’s civic committee, led by co-heads Ashitha Puvvada(12) (HOSA Secretary), and Vasumathi Rajaji (President of Active Minds), and lead by Suri Sawja (10). The Stress Relief Station is one piece of a larger series of community-focused activities, including last week’s handwashing trivia, the Alpharetta Elementary outreach led through IA Outreach, and a joint food drive with Active Minds. Next week, students will be making cards to send to nursing homes.
Even though IA doesn’t have the full month of December, HOSA and Active Minds plan to continue the rest of the 12 civic projects into January, carrying the “12 Days of Christmas” spirit into the new year.
