As we know, Valentines Day was last week, and what’s important about Valentines Day is showing people that you appreciate them and spreading love to others. Last week, students at IA did exactly that by spreading love to students while simultaneously using the proceeds to help those in need in our communities.

Sreesha Ramesh Kumar [11], the president of Food4lives, and her members objective were to help people. Through a series of candy-gram fundraisers that the Food4Lives club hosted at IA for a week, the club was able to raise an estimated amount of 200 dollars. It’s safe to say that the fundraiser turned out to be successful! They had different pricing options to choose from such as a rose for $2, or a 3-dollar bundle with a card and a lotion or small plush. Sreesha said, “It felt good to know that I was actually making a good impact on our community.” She elaborated that it’s a fun idea that gives students at IA experiences outside the normal school routine. Around 50 students made purchases, and about 10 club members helped run everything. “I think events like this are important… it’s a good way of involving students and making an impact on our community outside of this school by helping the helpless.”
The proceeds made from this project are envisioned to be even more impactful. They plan on using every cent towards their club service days, where they can buy food and distribute it themselves for a more direct impact. Seemingly simple projects like these show how thoughtfulness can go a long way, and its a win-win for everyone!
