Happy Friday IA Families,
It is so nice to have the students back in the building. The first week has gone incredibly smoothly, with just a few logistical hurdles we always see at the beginning of the year. Thank you for your patience and support.
As we start the year, it’s good to reflect on our mission at FCS Innovation Academy. Our mission is to develop innovative leaders for a dynamic world. As we see our world evolving quickly, we are passionate about helping our students thrive.
In order to accomplish this goal, we focus on authentic and relevant learning experiences. In a world where we are competing with social media, always-connected friend groups, and instant gratification for the attention of our students, we need to connect their learning to what is important and relevant in their lives. The projects our students experience in their classrooms, and through our flexible learning experiences, like Flex Fridays, give students multiple ways to connect to their academic experiences.
I have included our business partner newsletter to give you an idea of all the incredible opportunities our students will have this semester. These are incredible opportunities, but we need your help to make them as compelling as possible. This support can come in the form of our optional Project Fee. The district is very generous with our budget, but if we are managing top level equipment, supplies and materials for student projects, we need support. We do NOT charge lab fees for individual departments, so this is the only place we ask you to share this expense.
We also encourage all our parents to join our PTSO who will help with funding for our big Flex Friday events. You can join them at www.iaptso.org.
I’d like to thank you again for taking the chance to join us at IA. We know you could have sent your students to the great schools we have around us, but you chose us, and for that we are honored. I hope that the success our students have found at IA and beyond will continue to inspire students and families to join us on this adventure.
