Astronomy student Sam Mann, a senior at IA, has been recognized through Slooh, a remote telescope program that allows students to control telescopes around the world.
After learning to use the platform in class, Sam went beyond the assigned activities by capturing amazing celestial images and creating a spreadsheet system to track observations and what pictures have already been taken. This will be shared with Slooh and we hope that this tool will be implemented in a future Slooh update.

Mr. Jones (Astronomy Teacher ) said, ” I had nominated Sam for this program as they had gone above and beyond explaining what they were seeing and taking really cool images .”

Because of this initiative, Sam was nominated for and accepted into Slooh’s selective Gravity Guild program. On February 9, the organization featured Sam’s image of the Rosette Nebula on Instagram, highlighting this achievement on an international level.
