The month of September is Suicide Prevention Month in Fulton County Schools.  We know this is an important yet sensitive topic for our students and families.  Our students’ mental and emotional health is so important to assist in their academic success and in navigating the world around them.

Our school social worker along with a student committee have planned activities for Suicide Prevention Week (Sept 8 – Sept 11) during both lunches – students can choose whether to take part or not. 

During the week of September 14th we will have class meetings to implement the Signs of Suicide lessons as outlined by Georgia state law.  These meetings focus on knowing the signs of suicide to acknowledge when we see them in ourselves and or others along with knowing what vital actions to take to save lives. Therefore, as a district and a school we are dedicated to teaching students to ACT- Acknowledge, Care and Tell!

• Monday, Sept 14 – 11^th and 12^th graders during the first half of each lunch period
• Tuesday, Sept 15 – 9^th graders during the first half of each lunch period
• Thursday, Sept 17 – 10^th graders during the first half of each lunch period

If your student would like to opt out of the class meeting, there is a form attached here that you may email directly to your child’s counselor.  Your child may then not proceed to the auditorium during their lunch class meeting time.

Suicide prevention lessons and activities are essential because they provide students with the awareness, support, and resources they need during challenging times. Our goal is to take care of our students and foster a school community where every individual feels seen, supported, and encouraged to seek help when needed.  We hope this can also open the door to conversations with your student as they focus on their well-being.
